How Google Maps Sends Visitors to Your Syndicated Point2 Agent Listings

by Suzanne Stephens on 02/07/2010

Stephen Sexauer, my client for the Tampa custom designed Web site that I mentioned in my previous post, wrote to ask me how Point2Agent’s Google syndication worked to bring him traffic from Maps.Google.com.Google search optioins

Here’s how to find one of your own listings on Google Maps:

First, go to Maps.Google.com. Then choose “Real Estate” from either the drop-down ’search options’ menu or click the ‘Search Options” tab at the top of the map.

Next, enter your city and state, then click ‘Search’. After your city appears on the map, you’ll probably see lots of red tear-dropped shape pointers indicating homes for sale in your city, and, on the left side of the window, a column of listings descriptions. To quickly find one of your own listings, enter a very narrow price range in the price field at the top of the page, and click any other descriptors that apply to the listing you want to find. You should then find your listing at — or near — the top of the list of properties.

Click the green “point2.com” link, and you’ll go right to your listing on your Web site.

I have a point2 site and I can’t find my listings on Google maps. Do you know why? Thanks Suzan

Cleo, the only reason I can think of that your listing would not appear on Google maps might be that you didn’t designate them for syndication. Please let me know whether you chose syndication for your listings. I can contact someone at Point2Agent to get more information. Your profile link is pointing to an REW site. What is the URL for your Point2Agent site?

http://www.cyprus101.com is my point2 site. The listings are all in another country, Cyprus, which could be the reason. I do designate my listings for syndication but again I don’t find my listings on many of their syndication partners. If this is the reason, is their a way to be listed and get the same exposure as North American clients?

I will try to get more information for you, Cleo. I do know that Point2’s syndication partner options vary widely from place to place, even within North American countries. When you wrote that your listings don’t appear in Google maps, are you referring to searches on Google.com or on Google.gr?
